"Handwoven News" - March 2007
Some of you may know I spent the last four years working on Level l of the Certificate of Excellence in
Weaving through the Handweavers Guild of America. Level l is an extensive study of design, color theory,
weaving structures, and techniques. Along with the written sections on color,
design, and weaving equipment, 40 handwoven samples must be submitted. My
samples and work were mailed last October and in November 2006 I learned I
had passed the examination process. Now that I have
Level l completed, I have time to weave things that really excite me. Many projects
are competing for what will be started next. There are plans for scarves,
napkins, overshot blankets which can be used by the whole family, and more. Oh,
and yes I will also be working on Level ll of my Certificate.
More Colors!

If it has been a while since you looked at the
Cotton
Kitchen Towels, you might want to take a look again. Recently I have been planning
the colors I want on keeping in stock for the Cotton Kitchen
Towels. Just when I think I have the color selections figured out, I find
another color that
really needs to be added to the list. The latest set of color choices has been
uploaded to the website. If you need a special color you do not see let me
know. I may be able to find it for you.
As usual, the loom I weave the towels on, is warped and ready to go. If
I do not have the towels already woven in the colors you want, it will only take
me a few days to weave more and have them on their way to you.
OH, Baby!
Do you have a new baby arriving soon or are you looking for the
perfect present for a baby shower?
Cotton
Baby Blankets are back in stock! I had been wanting to
weave more of these and now a new group of handwoven baby blankets is on the
website. Weaving baby blankets has always been a pleasure to me. I love picking colors
that are bright and fun, or soft and soothing, and not found everywhere you look. Thinking about the little ones that
will be wrapped in a
Cotton Baby Blanket that I have woven brings joy to the weaving. The hardest
part of this project was choosing the patterns and colors. There are so many
beautiful patterns I want to weave and I have several colors that I did not get
to with this group. Sometimes it seems the warp is never long enough. Guess I’ll just have to
weave
more later . . .
Thank you for your past business. I look forward to being able to help
you find unique gifts and special things for yourself.
Sincerely,
Vila Cox
