"Handwoven News" - October 2008
It has been a long time since I sent my first newsletter. I had hoped to send out newsletters quarterly, but my Certificate of Excellence work took control of the last year.
I am a Master Weaver
For six years I have been working on my Certificate of Excellence in Handweaving. In November 2006 I passed Level I and in October 2008 I passed Level II. It has been a very rewarding process for me to go through. The sample requirements of Level I required me to do some weave structures that I had on my "to get to someday list" and some that I would never have tried if they were not part of the requirements. The Leno Scarves I have here on the website are a product of the leno sample I wove. (I just completed 12 more and will be adding them soon.)
Level II is a Specialized Study of the weaver's choice. I explored the mysteries of Diversified Plain Weave, a little used weave structure and found some interesting things out about it. I have been posting pictures of my projects for Level II on my blog http://handwoven-thoughts.com/wp/ As a result of this study, I have some napkins, table runners and 3 scarves to add to my website. I will be taking pictures and will let you know when I have them listed.
Custom Baby Blankets
In my last news letter I had just woven a group of Baby Blankets. I am going to be weaving more in November 2008 and will also be offering Custom Baby Blankets. Just let me know your choice of pattern and color and I will weave a special baby blanket just for you.
Be sure to order in October 2008 so I can be sure to have the yarn color you want. The earlier you order, the sooner I can ship.
